Sorry Suman,

Please paste complete logs you are getting in the syslog link in MMC. By the way have you tried complete restart of the server (SAP+DB+OS) ?

If no, Please try to restart and check as sometimes any deadlock condition blocking the system operation.

Thanks and regards,

Pradeep

Hi Suman,

May the server running with network loop-back adapter. you need to check main work-group domain IP address might be changed or not reachable. check the message server address has been maintained. If everything fine then check the logon group might be deleted or changed.Alert log and other SAP log will show only successful log if sever if running fine. if the server having problem then you can find the issue in logs.Better find some root cause from your side to find and let us know.

Thanks,

Brindavan

Hi Suman,

I don't see anything particularly strange from the logs you attached, I could only think of the processes on DB maxing out, which is set to 80. Did you find any other reasons, please share?

Cheers.

Recommendations/Doubts - log_buffer size and Oracle redo log file size.

$

Hello,

I´m adjusting some oracle parameters but now I´m with some doubts regarding the log_buffer size value!

This is a production SAP system running on Oracle DB 11.2g (11.2.0.4) in a Windows Server 2012 (R2).

Some questions/doubts:

1. Which unit the log_buffer has? Bytes? (The default value in my database is 14254080).

2. I read the sap note 1431798 (Oracle 11.2.0: Database Parameter Settings) and then the sap note 1627481 (Preemptive redolog switches in Oracle 11.2 and higher) and in this last one I read some requirements (my server has 8 cores):

For systems with <= 16 cores set the logbuffer to 4MB or don't set it at all.

So... I changed the value (consider that parameter is in bytes unit) to 4194304 bytes (4 megabytes)

This is a good decision or not? Tell me your opinion please.

3. In the same sap note 1627481 I see the following statement:

If you have set the logbuffer to 4MB, then create redo logfiles of at least 200MB.This minimum configuration should only be used for DEV, Test or QA systems but not for production systems.

But I don´t understand... as I said before I set the log_buffer to 4MB but now I want to know which value I must set to the redo logfiles (origlogs and mirrlogs) in a production system. As you see the sap note only described the value for DEV, Test or QA systems, not for the production systems.

Which value is recommended for redolog files?

Can you answer to these three questions?

Any other recommendations?

Thank you,

Best regards,

João Dimas

Hi Atul,

The link shows the exact problem which I face. But, its not answered. I am still facing the same issue. I am not able to understand whether its the error with oracle installation or OS error.

Its  not able to set the correct path for Oracle Service OracleServiceTS1 in our case. It sets some orant/bin/ORACLE.EXE TS1 path whereas ORACLE.EXE is located in path D:\Oracle\TS1\11203\BIN\ORACLE.EXE TS1

I am able to change the path manually for the service created but when I again start the SWPM with sapinst.exe, it again fails as it sets the path orant\BIN\ORACLE.EXE TS1

Quick help is appreciated.

Regarding the Oracle restore

$

Dear Experts,

I have small query on oracle restore using BR TOOLS.

we are facing the below issue while restoring the production backup on the quality system.

our production backup location is /oracle/PRD/sapbackup

Quality backup location is /oracle/QRD/SAPBACKUP.

these mounts are not attached to all servers.

we have taken the backup its created three files 1. one folder with all data files.  2 backupprd. log  3. zyx.fnd file

I have moved the above thee files and archive log to target backup folder and renamed the backup<PRD>.log to backup<QRD>.log

Now when i restore on quality system saying that backup files not found... actually its searching the backup on /oracle/PRD/sapbackup from fnd file.

is there any way to avoid it. Or do I need to change path anywhere in backup files

I have seen so many blogs nowhere exact resolution is not mentioned

Log :

BR0443W File '/oracle/PRD/sapbackup/besukhbi/sr3.data12.Z' to be restored not found

BR0443W File '/oracle/PRD/sapbackup/besukhbi/sr3.data13.Z' to be restored not found

BR0443W File '/oracle/PRD/sapbackup/besukhbi/sr3.data14.Z' to be restored not found

BR0443W File '/oracle/PRD/sapbackup/besukhbi/sr3.data15.Z' to be restored not found

BR0443W File '/oracle/PRD/sapbackup/besukhbi/sr3.data16.Z' to be restored not found

BR0443W File '/oracle/PRD/sapbackup/besukhbi/sr3.data17.Z' to be restored not found

But i have copied the files to /oracle/QRD/sapbackup/besukhbi with full permissions

Thanks,

Reddy

Re: Regarding the Oracle restore

Hi,

Could you share backup_<SID>.log , zyx.fnd along with alert_<SID>.log file from the system ? Addition to it are you getting restore code BR0460W during the restore process .

For the code you could follow SAP Note 17163 - BRARCHIVE/BRBACKUP messages and codes

BR0460W Termination message not found in %s - log file incomplete.

BR0460W Ende-Meldung nicht gefunden in %s - Protokoll unvollstaendig.

Explanation:  The message about the termination of the backup was not found in the backup log.

Case 1: The volume restored the log.

Case 2: You changed the log manually.

Program reaction:  Waits for confirmation that the process should continue.

User action:  Case 1: Continue processing. Case 2: Undo the manual changes, cancel the processing, and then repeat the process.

Hope this will help you.

orabrcopy error - Error loading Oracle JDBC driver

$

Hello,

I want to perform a SAP system copy (homogeneous) with Oracle 11.2g in a Windows Server 2012. The source SAP system is running with Oracle 11.2g in a Windows Server 2003.

The problem... is when I try to execute the orabrcopy tool (in the source server) which is as you know, the tool that generate the control.sql file, it show me the following error:

24-03-2016 10 55 06.jpg

In the orabrcopy guide, I read the following prerequisites:

10-03-2016 19.30.56.jpg

- I have installed in the server the JRE version 1.4.2 as you can see in the following information:

I:\orabrcopy>java -fullversion

java full version "1.4.2_42-b03"

- The JAVA_HOME environment variable is set with the correct path: C:\j2sdkx64

- I´m running this with <sapsid>adm user (which belongs to the Oracle DBA group)

- In the <ORACLE_HOME>/jdbc/lib I have the file classes12.jar as you can see in the following image:

10-03-2016 19.45.14.jpg

- Both services... oracle database and listener are started.

So... I can´t understand what is wrong with this!! Why it show me the error:

Required system resources are missing or not available:

  Error loading Oracle JDBC driver.

Can you help me please? (This is urgent)

Best regards,

João Dimas

Hi João,

regarding your question:

1. log_buffer unit, please refer to oracle doc:

LOG_BUFFER

the unit is in byte

2. note 1627481 should be followed to set log_buffer. So 4MB or not set are both ok. For my understanding about the note, for production the redo log files size should be above 200MB. 200MB can only be used for dev, or qas systems.

James

Hi Arpit,

The OS/DB Migration Check is mandatory if you are going to migrate a productive system.

You can create an incident with component SV-BO-REQ to SAP support to request, they will tell you the prerequsites and steps for the OS/DB migration check service.

For more information, please consult your local SAP support hotline.

Hi JD

1. log_buffer unit is in "byte" so calculate it size accordingly.

2. As per snote#1627481, it should be ok either you set log_buffer to 4MB or not, you can increase the redolog file size upto 1GB for production system as per your server CPU config.

Hi,

do not set log_buffer, Oracle will autotune it depending on several factors. On our dev system log_buffer is 28MB and on our production 120MB.

Set the redolog file size big enough e.g. 1GB and set archive_lag_target to e.g. 1800 (30Min). This means that the redolog switches every 30min also if the redolog is not filled up.
